Background
Bestinvest, a respected UK investment platform, embarked on a mission to make investing clearer and more accessible. The aim was to provide retail clients with a digital experience that combined powerful discovery tools with simplicity, enabling confident investment decisions across funds, shares, ETFs, and trust vehicles.
The challenge centred on crafting an intelligent investment search interface capable of filtering thousands of opportunities whilst remaining intuitive and responsive. The goal was to streamline the path from exploration to insight, ensuring users could find exactly what they needed without friction.
Key Technology Used
Vue:
Provided a reactive, component-based foundation for building the investment search interface with real-time interactivity and polished UI behaviour.
Nuxt:
Enabled server-side rendering and routing, delivering fast initial load performance and improved SEO—critical in a data-driven context rich with listings.
Vuex:
Handled centralised state management across search filters, results pagination, and investment data, ensuring consistency and responsiveness throughout the user journey. At the time of build, Vuex was the official state management library for Vue; today, its successor Pinia is recommended as the modern alternative, offering a lighter syntax, stronger TypeScript support, and native compatibility with the Composition API.
SCSS:
Delivered structured, maintainable design styling, enabling a clean and professional interface aligned with Bestinvest’s brand and usability standards.
Outcome
The launch of the investment search tool created a smoother, more dynamic experience, enabling users to filter, compare, and discover investments with ease across desktop and mobile. The result was a powerful yet accessible platform underpinned by modern front-end architecture and rich state handling.
